With braces your mouth feels a little different after they’re first put on.
Getting used to life with braces means learning what you can and can’t eat. When you will be fitted with braces you’ll need to change some of your eating habits. Biting into hard foods can pull away the brackets and wire. Some foods can get stuck and be extremely difficult to remove from braces.
Learning what to eat, and how to eat that food, can help you adjust to your new or tightened braces with ease.
Choose a soft and smooth foods; they are less likely to damage your braces. Throw whatever you like in a blender and enjoy.
During your first few days with braces: soft cheese, soup, mashed potato, yogurt, pasta, pudding, pancake, soft-cooked meats without any bones, juice, eggs, soft cocked rice, banana are some friendly foods.
Popcorn, nuts of any kind, ice, pizza, candy and any sticky food, chips, hard bread, raw carrots or apple (unless cut on very small piece or slice ) are few foods that you have to avoid during your orthodontic treatment as they are hard or crunchy.
You should never chew on any non-food items such as your fingernails or hair. You should also avoid gnawing on pencils or other wooden items, as well as pens and other plastic objects.
Remember to stay hydrated and drink lots of water throughout the day, avoiding pop and sugary drinks as your teeth are even more susceptible to cavities when you have braces.
Braces are wonderful tools that help you have a healthier more beautiful smile for the rest of your life, but it’s really important to make conscious food choices during your treatment.
